I love spring - it’s a natural, intuitive time for us to detoxify our winter indulgences. It’s a season where we begin to incorporate more raw foods, liver-supporting ingredients, and eat a little lighter.

After stocking up our fridges with roasted veggies and warm, nourishing soups over the winter, spring asks us to add smoothies and salads into our diet again - which are some of my favourite meals!

I love this Spring Detox Smoothie by Hello Glow - it’s packed with nutrition powerhouses like cucumbers, green tea, cilantro, ginger, avocado, pineapple, lemon, and ginger. These ingredients help us amp up our digestion, balance pH levels, boost our metabolism (hello, summer bod!) and even cleanse our livers.

I recommend chopping your fruit and veggies for the week to save time in the morning, and leaving a big batch of chilled green tea in your fridge to maximize efficiency.

For those of us (including me) who are not cilantro fans, simply omit it or replace it with your herb of choice. My favourite is mint!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup green tea, chilled

  • 1 cup loosely packed cilantro

  • 1 cup loosely packed organic baby kale (or another baby green)

  • 1 cup cucumber

  • 1 cup pineapple

  • juice of 1 lemon

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1/2 avocado

Instructions

  1. Place ingredients into a blender and puree until smooth.
